Fueling The Mission of Impact
Giving to Destination Impact is about so much more than a building.  It is about the impact we can achieve for God's Kingdom through our collective efforts, many times with the aid of a building as part of that effort.

The Journey Cornerstones at the right include many aspects of our ministry that make an impact for God's Kingdom.  Below are ministry efforts inspired by these cornerstones that are enabled at least in part by having a building that operates well and is easily accessible.

Community Impact Efforts Enabled by Our Community Impact Center:

Mother's Day Out: Our Journey Kids Jr. pre-school areas and playground are used during the week to enable young kids to benefit from great teaching and exposure to the Bible while mothers have some time on their own.

Kindling The Passion: The Journey campus is flexible enough to provide a dinner, dancing and silent auction fundraiser for scholarships to a retreat for LISD teachers designed to encourage, rejuvenate and guide them as they work with our most important asset - our children.  This training has also been conducted on The Journey campus to stretch training dollars.

Capturing Kid's Hearts:  We provide free Capturing Kid's Hearts training space here at The Journey auditorium for LISD teacher training.  We have gotten great feedback on how great the trainers and teachers have appreciated the facility and the hospitality they have experienced here.

Foster Parents' Night Out:  We use the Journey campus 4-6 times a year to provide a childcare service to foster parents of their foster kids. We take care of 20-30 toddlers to teenagers so their foster parents can have a night out knowing that their kids are well cared for by Journey volunteers that have been trained to meet state requirements for foster care.

Adoption Festival:  In conjunction with Angelheart Ministries, The Journey can conduct periodic adoption festivals on our campus.  Many foster kids and families participated in our first event earlier this year that was a great success.

Backpack Food Program:  Volunteers at The Journey occasionally use the building as a staging area to provide meals and snacks for weekends and longer Holiday breaks for elementary school kids that are in need.

Blues on the Green:  Journey folk are able to invite friends and neighbors to enjoy live music on the front lawn of the church during the summer months and show them that The Journey is an inviting place they may want to visit.

Movie Night:  Small Groups and Youth use The Journey building for showing of movies to enhance an area of Bible study they are pursuing.

Men's Fraternity:  Our men's group holds two gatherings a week at The Journey, using the video capabilites, kitchen and fire pit to facilitate biblical study and fellowship.

Kids Outdoor Zone:  The Journey is used as base camp for this effort by Journey men to serve as mentors and role models to boys from 8-18 as they teach them how to participate in a variety of outdoor activities and adventures.

Ladies' Bible Study:  Our ladies' bible study group meets biweekly at The Journey to get connected with other women who are interested in growing deeper in their faith with the friendship and support of others.

Youth:  The JourneYouth meet on Wednesday and Sunday nights at The Journey to get to know one another, to worship together and to learn ways they can apply biblical principles to their daily lives. They also spend free time together at their new hangout area in the portable behind the main building (formerly office space).

Sunday Services:  Every Sunday, the Journey campus provides great opportunities for all ages to learn more about God's love for them and how they can live their lives in ways that he knows is best for them.
